Australind’s The Variety Group starts festive season early with A Rock and Roll Christmas on November 18-19

An Australind-based performance group is set to start the silly season early this month with two festive shows next weekend. While the region’s retail and hospitality workers have been preparing for the onslaught of hearing Mariah Carey and Wham! on repeat for the rest of the year, members of The Variety Group at the Australind and Districts Senior Citizens Centre have been practicing for something far more enjoyable. Following their take on the Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist in May, they will conclude the year with A Rock and Roll Christmas on November 18 and 19. Under the creative directorship of Eileen Depiazzi, the group will mix some great Christmas classics with the more high-octane popular music genre in a performance set to delight attendees. There will only be two matinee shows, starting at 1.30pm on both days. Tickets cost $20 each and include complimentary afternoon tea. There will be a pop quiz, door prizes and raffle prizes on offer.
