Students at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School have taken part in the annual Round Square International Conference.

The conference invites 200 like-minded schools across 50 countries to connect and collaborate with one another through programs and experiences that develop global competence and confidence in students. This year’s conference was planned to be held in Thailand during term 1 school holidays, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, it was held virtually via zoom.

While the students from BCGS that took part were disappointed their trip to Thailand was cancelled, they still got a lot out of the conference.

“I was pretty sad when I heard we weren’t able to go to Thailand, but our health is our priority and we still had the chance to attend the conference,” Year 5 student Luke Cotton said.

“Even if we didn’t get to meet people in real life it was still lots of fun.”

The Zoom conference was hosted by the Thai school that planned to host the physical conference. Students were divided into smaller discussion groups where they met students from Victoria, Vietnam, Japan and China.

BCGS has been a member of the Round Square Association for 14 years and is one of the 17 Australian schools involved.
