BDCA 2022/23: Colts emerge as new challenger to the throne as Leschenault look to extend undefeated streak

As questions continue to loom around just who could put an end to Leschenault’s undefeated streak, a new challenger has emerged to potentially take the throne. In another top of the table clash, Colts are set to host Leschenault at the Bunbury Recreation Ground during the eighth round of the 2022-23 Bunbury & Districts Cricket Association season on Saturday. It comes as Colts bumped Donnybrook to take second place on the ladder after beating Dalyellup 3-190 to 10-186 at Dalyellup College last weekend. Timothy Hutchinson’s 102 off 95 balls and four wickets by Murray Goodwin were key contributing factors in the win for the Colts, who went on to surpass Dalyellup’s lead in just under 39 overs. The win has extended Colts’ strong form to a fifth consecutive week. Meanwhile, Leschenault extended their undefeated streak to a seventh week after dispatching Eaton 3-127 to 8-126 last weekend. Jason Shine took three wickets, while opening batter Jamie Harrison was the biggest contributor to Leschenault’s tally with 53 runs before he was caught. The two sides last met in the opening round of the season, which saw Leschenault defeat Colts 6-148 to 7-147. Elsewhere, Donnybrook will be looking to shake off their current slump in form when they go up against Eaton at Egan Park. Donnybrook suffered their second consecutive loss when they went up against Marist last weekend and slipped to third place on the ladder, a week after their own undefeated streak was broken by Leschenault. Meanwhile Eaton will be looking to bounce back from losing to Leschenault to chase a spot in the top four before the Christmas and New Year break. Marist will look to continue building momentum after knocking off Donnybrook when they host Collie, who continue to chase their first win of the season, while Dalyellup and Hay Park will go head to head.
