Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre is ready to roll out the red carpet for its twice-yearly International Film Festival.

Selected by passionate cinema fans through a Film Advisory Committee, the festival will screen some of the best recently released foreign and independent films.

Running from January 7-25, the festival will feature 14 films from 28 countries, spanning eight genres.

Each film will be screened three times, giving cinema enthusiasts multiple chances to enjoy a range of stories.

Films at the festival will include Cannes Palme d’Or award winner from Iran It Was Just An Accident, as well as Mr Nobody Against Putin, a film about the power of propaganda.

U Are The Universe is a film for those who enjoy science fiction and fantasy, while Fidil Ghorm is an Irish film exploring love, loss and folklore.

I Swear will also be screened during the festival, a film based on the true story of Tourette syndrome advocate John Davidson and his journey from troubled teen to igniting a movement.

BREC executive director Fiona de Garis said the festival was all about bringing people together and celebrating the richness of global storytelling.

“It creates a real buzz in the South West as audiences gather to discover films that spark conversation and connection. When people come along, they’re not only enjoying exceptional cinema – they’re supporting a vibrant local arts community and helping us keep these shared cultural experiences alive for the region,” she said.

“We want people to feel welcome, to stay awhile and enjoy the entire experience of a film festival right here in Bunbury.

“Sometimes people just drop in for a drink, a chat, or one of our signature toasted paninis, and we love that.”

Ms de Garis said the event was made possible through the growing BREC Film Donor circle alongside its media partners, helping to make the festival an enjoyable experience for all.

More information and the full program for the film festival can be found on the BREC website.
