Bunbury student Bridgette Milentis honoured as South Regional TAFE Student of the Year

Bunbury student Bridgette Milentis was honoured recently by South Regional TAFE, winning a series of prizes including the top honour as Student of the Year. On Wednesday, June 1, South Regional TAFE managing director Darshi Ganeson presented Ms Milentis with the award as overall South Regional TAFE Student of the Year. She was recognised as the highest achieving 2021 student from all 12 South Regional TAFE campuses throughout the South West and the Great Southern region. Ms Milentis completed a Certificate III in Engineering as a mechanical fitter and was also awarded the South West Student of the Year, sponsored by Rotary, the Zonta Women in Non-Traditional Trades Award, the Engineering Apprentice of the Year Award and the Trades and Paraprofessionals Student of the Year sponsored by RCR Mining. The Bunbury-based student said she could not believe she was awarded the honour for her efforts during her studies in 2021. “I thought I was just being interviewed for some small awards, but to win the big one was really cool and a big surprise,” she said. Ms Milentis said she was aided by the amount of support she received during her studies. “TAFE have been really supportive the whole way through, all the teaching staff and admin staff have been so helpful,” she said. “I had the same tutor the whole way through and he was really good. “He would push you if you needed to be pushed, or leave you if you needed space.”
