The South West Sports Centre played host to almost 50 youngsters last week, who laced up their sneakers and took part in the second 3x3 basketball tournament in Bunbury. The City of Bunbury-hosted event was run on Tuesday with 14 teams of boys and girls aged 11 to 18 taking to the court for the modified version of the sport. A skills and coaching clinic was run by coaches from the South West Slammers, and the Bunbury Basketball Association provided umpires for the event. This was the second consecutive school holidays the tournament has been run, with the event split into two divisions — 11 to 14 and 15 to 18. Event organisers said there was scope to increase the number of divisions to even the competition following the tournament’s popularity.
