Cafe’s reopening marked with a cheery celebration
Dozens of seniors filled the newly renovated Tea Cosy Cafe at the Bunbury Geographe Seniors and Community Centre on Tuesday to mark the cafe’s reopening with tea, scones and cake.
Managers Cheryl Wilson and Christine Palazzolo said they had got together with the idea of giving the outdated cafe a facelift.
“The cafe has always been here but it was looking a bit old and in desperate need of a freshen up,” Ms Palazzolo said.
Cheryl and I, with the help of a few friends, came in, put our skills to work and within a month we had the place looking nice and new.
The cafe, which operates out of the seniors centre, is now open from Monday to Friday from 10am to 2pm.
“It used to be a closed off place but now it’s open to all members of the public, young and old,” Ms Palazzolo said.
“The cafe also gives people that may be living alone a nice social place to chat with others.
“We are encouraging everyone and anyone to come in and enjoy themselves.
“The meals are very inexpensive and between fundraisers, dances and high teas, there is always something on.”
