Carey Park defender Lilah Edmonds excited about Panthers’ 2025 prospects after taking out 2024 Testrow Medal

A star Carey Park defender is hoping to see her team in the 2025 finals series after taking out South West netball’s highest honour. Lilah Edmonds was awarded the 2024 Testrow Medal last month after nudging out Bunbury’s Isabelle Szemray. The Panthers’ player also took out the Ingrid Colyer Rising Star Award and was one of nine players included in the league’s Team of the Year. Edmonds said it took a while for the major award win to sink in. “It’s very exciting, I’m very grateful . . . but it’s a huge testament to my team,” she said. “It’s an absolute team effort out there and (I’m) glad to get some recognition off-court.” Edmonds shone during what was a tough season for Carey Park, finishing the regular season in eighth spot on the ladder despite keeping the winning margins of their opponents to under 10 goals in most games. Edmonds said she was happy with how she had performed during the season. “I think we bonded on and off the court and it’s just allowed me to grow my game. I’ve loved it,” Edmonds said. “We sort of hit our peak form towards the end of the year, but we really took it up to the top teams. We had some draws and some wins late, so it was really great to take those games home at the end.” Planning has already started for the next season, with clubs holding trials for next year’s teams in November. As for Edmonds, she is hoping to see her team rise in the rankings next season. “I’m super excited to sort of build on the team we have,” she said. “Hopefully we’ll get a few more wins on the board and we’re definitely pushing towards finals.”
