Community invited to have their say around a proposed bike trail through the world’s only tuart forest

The Shire of Capel is calling on the community to have their say around a proposed bike trail through a section of the world’s only surviving tuart forest. The shire’s Tuart Forest Cycle Link project will link Tatton Place in Stratham to Mangles Road in Stirling East, forming a key section of cycling and pedestrian paths between Bunbury and Busselton. Set to be a 1.8km stretch of sealed path through the forest, the project comes as a part of the Bunbury-Wellington 2050 Cycling strategy aiming to get cyclists off main roads with alternative paths created for safety and accessibility. This project will also see pedestrians and cyclists further connected to Peppermint Grove Beach, with designated paths getting locals to the coast. The Shire of Capel said it was important for the community to have a say in the project. “Community input is important to help ensure the design meets local needs,” they said. “We encourage residents, users of the trail, and interested stakeholders to review the design and share their comments.” Feedback is open until Friday January 24, and can be accessed via the Shire of Capel website.
