One of Cancer Council’s biggest fundraising events is going virtual this year due to COVID-19.

Traditionally held on Victoria Street in Bunbury, Daffodil Day aims to “paint the South West yellow” with the street appeal each year raising millions for cancer research through donations.

Cancer Council WA South West regional education officer Shenae Hawkins said that despite advances made in research and improving survival rates for many cancers, every four minutes another Australian is diagnosed with cancer.

“Unfortunately less funding will be available for research due to the current climate, so it’s more important than ever to ensure we support the work of our researchers,” Mrs Hawkins said.
