Expo for those in need

Organisers behind a new pop-up expo designed to help low to no income people are calling on community groups to share their skills and knowledge.

The Smart 2 Ask expo is a single day event aimed at helping socially or financially vulnerable residents with information on services and entitlements available to them.

Jan Pedersen is one of the organisers behind the event and hopes it will attract more than 50 organisations from the South West to take part.

There’ll be nutritious cooking demonstrations, affordable housing information, free eye tests and free hair cuts on offer at the event.

“Debbie Woodward from Grow Cook Eat Create will provide nutritious cooking demonstrations, Kay Shaw from Alliance Housing will have information on affordable housing, and Belinda Musitano from Eyes at Australind will provide free eye tests”, Ms Pedersen said.

“Vivienne Italiano from Australind Hairdresser has also offered to provide free haircuts during the event.”

We will also have activities on budgeting, how to make your dollar go further, give tips on how to save electricity and gas, and have a few financial councillors on-site to answer any tricky questions.”

Pending on its success, Ms Pedersen said the Smart 2 Ask pop-up expo will be an annual event.

The event will be held following the Chef’s Long Table Charity Lunch at Bunbury’s Pat Usher Foreshore on February 25.
