South West avocado growers are invited to attend a free webinar on avocado pollination hosted by South West Catchments Council.

The webinar will detail the projects the SWCC and its partners are currently undertaking.

SWCC has two projects looking at pollination in avocados, both funded under the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.

Dr David Cook from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development will discuss a five-year national collaborative project between Horticulture Innovation Australia, DPIRD, the private sector and universities.

Dr Cook also carried out research on flies as pollinators of key horticultural crops and is a specialist in calliphorid flies, hover flies and other regular flower-visiting fly species.

The webinar is being held on August 12 and registrations are essential. To secure your spot email Wendy Wilkins from SWCC at wendy.wilkins@swccnrm.org.au.
