A 21-year old man has died after the vehicle he was driving hit a tree on South Western Highway near Donnybrook last night.

Police say the Mazda 3 sedan left the road and entered a large drain before hitting a tree just after 8pm.

The man was travelling north on South Western Highway in Newlands, between Donnybrook and Kirup.

He received critical injuries and died at the scene.

Investigators are urging anyone with dash-cam or mobile phone vision of the Mazda 3 sedan travelling in the area prior to the crash, to upload the vision via this link: https://wapf.au.evidence.com/axon/citizen/public/newlandsfatalcrash
