Meet the incredible Bunbury based writer’s club that found it had four members who all married on the same day
Members of a Bunbury writers club, who only recently met through their shared passion for literature, have discovered an incredible coincidence — they were all married on the same day.
South Side Quills Writers Group members Jacquie Lakner, Kath Fenton, Cate Jones and Jenny Ward all wed their partners on January 8.
Even more remarkably, three of them did so in the same year, 1972, and two of them tied the knot at the exact same time.
The group only discovered the rare fact as the quartet all approached their wedding anniversaries.
Jacquie married her husband Simon in Cannington in 1972, Kath married her husband Mike in Adelaide, also in 1972 and Jenny and Vern Ward were married in Albany in the same year.
The Wards and the Fentons both married at the same time — 3pm, only on opposite sides of the country.
Ingrid Rickersey from the SSQWC said she couldn’t believe it when she found out.
“We were just chatting one day and someone mentioned their wedding anniversary was coming up — their 50th,” Ms Rickersey said.
“Someone else said ‘we were married the same day’ and then someone else said ‘we were married the same day as well’.
“Of the seven people who were at that lunch, four were married on the same day.”
The group was formed in 2009 and are currently working on their third anthology.
