Milestone birthday celebrated

Ocean Star Village Bunbury resident Gwen Tipton blew out 100 candles on Tuesday as she celebrated her biggest birthday yet.
With a room full of balloons, birthday cake and flowers, Mrs Tipton spent her century celebration surrounded by village staff and had a special video call from her closest family members.
Village lifestyle facilitator Carolyn Cousins said Mrs Tipton has a great love for family.
“Given the coronavirus situation she was not able to see her family, so we threw her a party here at the village and Facetimed her daughters,” Ms Cousins said.
Mrs Tipton was born in Coventry, England, and moved to Melbourne in 1970 where she met her husband and had three daughters.
“She worked in many offices, including the Ministry of Defence in England,” Ms Cousins said.
“Gwen loved pottery, needle work and sewing, but now she enjoys listening to music and reading books.
“I’m so glad we were able to help her celebrate her 100th birthday.”
