South West Nationals WA candidates Terry Redman, Wayne Sanford and James Hayward ramped up their campaigning last week when they paid a visit to Donnybrook.

The trio started the day in Mullalyup where they met with the Mullalyup Improvement Group before heading to Kirup and meeting with Richard Licciardello and finishing the day in Donnybrook with the Chamber of Commerce.

The key message from the party throughout the day was their commitment to restore the integrity of the Royalties for Regions program.

“We want locals to have access to resources to consider new initiatives within their community, whatever they may be,” Warren-Blackwood MLA Terry Redman said.

“The local people know what these initiatives should be, they are the ones that need to be able to drive these initiatives and get support to make them happen.

“Meeting with local community members, getting a feel for what life is like out here for them and understanding some of the difficulties and issues they face and what they would like to see their local representatives advocating for on their behalf has been really important for us.”

Collie-Preston candidate Wayne Sanford is hopeful the Royalties for Regions program will be restored, allowing the party to support important community projects and programs in his region.

“I want people to be able to come to me and say as a community we actually want and need this particular bit of infrastructure or this particular service,” Mr Sanford said.

“And I want to be able to say, ‘well I have the mechanism now to deliver that to you’.

“But at the moment they are frustrated because they see all this money being spent on great projects for people if you live in the city, but nothing for the communities out here.

“I want to to see the RfR program restored so it can support important community projects and programs in Collie-Preston.”
