Open Week 2022: Stirling Street Art Centre hosts a week-long program of workshops to explore creativity

Be ready to get your hands dirty and let your creativity fly for a week of workshops hosted by passionate and talented volunteers from the Bunbury region. Stirling Street Arts Centre is hosting Open Week all this week offering a chance for interested creatives to explore different art mediums through free workshops. On its first day on Monday, the Stirling Street Arts Centre offered workshops and exhibitions run by local creatives including the Australian Art Club. Bunbury Weavers have been a prolific artist group in the region, started in 1984 by Iris Mort, and has become a strong connection of artists with a philosophy of mentorship and training for new members each year. The workshop is set to cater for both experienced and beginner weavers offering endless possibilities to create fabrics and home decor in traditional or contemporary designs. Other workshops throughout the week will explore mediums including creative textiles, yarn creatives and felting, with the most popular of the week being a ‘have a go’ pottery class on Saturday. All workshops are completely free and all materials are supplied. The Australind Art Club will also feature an exhibition at the main hallway of the arts centre on display throughout the whole week. After a week of creativity and exploration of skill, people are invited to join as members and take part in weekly workshops and classes catered to all age ranges. The Stirling Street Arts Centre will be open all week from 8:30am to 4pm and all patrons must show proof of vaccination.
