Parts of Australind were without power this morning following an unplanned outage which has affected 5034 customers in the area, according to the Western Power outage map.

The suburbs affected were Australind, Eaton, Leschenault, Pelican Point, Parkfield, Wellesley and Vittoria and the cause has been identified as a damaged pole that will need to be repaired.

A spokesman for Western Power said residents and businesses in the affected areas were expected to have their power restored by this afternoon.

“While repairs are completed our network operations team were looking at opportunities for back-feeding around the grid and were able to restore power to the majority of customers earlier than expected,” he said.
