Scholarships to make uni life easier for students

Edith Cowan University’s South West campus has secured 10 new scholarships worth $45,000 each as part of the Federal Government’s Destination Australia program. The scholarships are available for full-time domestic or international students commencing studies at the South West campus in an eligible bachelor or masters degree in semester two. This is the first year the scholarships have been allocated and ECU South West dean Lyn Farrell is looking forward to welcoming students to the campus. “Students really struggle to have jobs and meet the cost of living whilst studying, so these scholarships are great for attraction and retention in the South West,” she said. “Just talking to the group of students who have received the scholarships you can hear the difference it has made in their lives. “Once our borders open we can look forward to these scholarships helping us to attract international students.” Ms Farrell said ECU South West had responded swiftly to the early challenges posed by COVID-19 and had emerged with a keen desire to embrace the “new normal”. “Students and staff responded to the changes with incredible poise and commitment to personal excellence,” she said. “This makes returning to on-campus study in July even more special and we are thrilled to welcome back all of our students in semester two.”
