Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School is set for a new era, with Matthew O’Brien to become the new head of school from next year.

Mr O’Brien replaces Michael Giles in the role after first joining the school in 2016 as head of secondary.

“I am confident that our school will be in very capable hands,” Mr Giles said.

“Matthew O’Brien is a passionate and respected educator, who will continue to strengthen and develop the outstanding learning opportunities offered by our school.”

Mr O’Brien said he was looking forward to continuing the school’s vision.

“I am excited to be given the privilege to lead our great school and I look forward to continue to develop and implement the shared vision we have created together with staff, parents and students,” he said.

“Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School is the centre of a very special community and together we will continue to grow, finding the pathway that gives each student every opportunity.”

The chair of the school board Simon Jacobs thanked Mr Giles for his achievements at the school since arriving in 2012.

“Mr Giles has been responsible for the implementation of may successful programs, which have enhanced the thinking and learning skills of our staff and students,” he said.

“We are grateful for the nine years of dedicated service to our school community.”
