South West Slammers’ women’s side set for winnable weekend double-header against Rockingham and Eastern Suns

South West Slammers’ women’s side will be eyeing off a pair of wins in their double-header against Rockingham Flames and Eastern Suns this weekend. The Slammers opened their 2025 NBL1 West season with a breakthrough win over the Suns which snapped a 52-game losing streak but have lost their six games since. Mark Edman’s side sits 12th on the ladder, trailing the 11th-placed Flames on percentage and ahead of the winless last-placed Suns. The Slammers will take on the Flames at Eaton Recreation Centre on Friday before heading to Lesmurdie’s Ray Owen Sports Centre on Saturday. Having shot below 38 per cent from the field in each of their past four games, the side will be looking for better execution on the offensive end. The Slammers’ winless men’s team will face a tough task against the Flames, who sit second on the ladder with a 7-1 win-loss record and boast two of the competition’s best players in NBL regulars Isaac White and Emmett Narr. Their clash with the ninth-placed Suns shapes as more winnable, but they will be hoping for a better performance than their season opener, when they suffered a 20-point loss to the same opponent. At home on Friday night, the women’s game will tip off at 6.30pm before the men get under way at 8.30pm.
