Tony Galati announces Bunbury Forum to get Spudshed megastore by year’s end

Bunbury Forum is set to be home to the next Spudshed, according to spud king Tony Galati. The Spudshed boss made the announcement last week in a question and answer video on Facebook. “Yes the rumour is true — we are opening up one of our megastores in Bunbury Forum by the end of the year,” he told viewers. However, contacts at the Bunbury Forum have been hush on the matter, saying they are not allowed to comment at this stage. This would be the second Spudshed store in the South West and the 18th store overall after the highly successful Australind branch opened in late 2016. Speaking exclusively to the South Western Times, Mr Galati said the store location made sense as it was close to where the produce was farmed. “All our products are virtually grown 20km north of that so there’s access to a lot of fresh produce.” The hint comes just one month after another long-awaited moment arrived for Spudshed fans with the WA spud king proudly presenting his exclusive line of locally grown and crafted potato chips in April. The chips are made from potatoes grown on Galati farms in Myalup, Lancelin and Manjimup and will be available at Galati’s Spudshed stores. “We grow some of the best potatoes in Australia and yet we haven’t had any chips made in WA for nearly a decade,” he said. “As West Aussies we deserve our own locally made, quality chips. I’ve been working with potatoes most of my life, so making a potato chip here in WA was the obvious next step in making the most of my favourite veg.” Available in 300g packets, the chips come in four flavours: original, barbecue, chicken, and salt and vinegar. Galati Group is one of WA’s largest agriculture producers and retailers known for its 17 Spudshed stores and potato crops.
