Popular food delivery app Uber Eats will be making its way to smart phones in Bunbury next month.

The Uber Eats app is available in more than 30 cities and towns across Australia and New Zealand and this year is expanding into an additional ten cities.

Head of Uber Eats in New Zealand and regional Australia, Elisa Janiec said she is excited to bring the choice and convenience of the app to the Bunbury community.

“Bunbury will be the first town on the west coast and one of the first locations in Australia to be included in this year’s Uber Eats expansion,” Ms Janiec said.

“We had plans to grow our cities in the first half of this year and to turn on the app in Bunbury, but our focus during Covid-19 was to prioritize support towards restaurants already on the platform - relying on delivery with increasing importance.

“West Australians have done an incredible job flattening the curve, so we are now able to start to to again look to new markets.”

Ms Janiec said Bunbury was chosen as one of the first Australian cities for the expansion.

“The Uber Eats app has been opened thousands of times in the last three months in Bunbury which is a good indication that there is a strong appetite for the convenience of on demand delivery,” she said.

“We are planning on servicing Bunbury, South Bunbury and the aptly named Eaton, but our delivery locations will ultimately be decided by which restaurants sign up to the platform.”
