Weekend Weather: South West blessed with a warm weekend before a cooler drizzly week ahead

A cooler weekend is in store for the South West region as signs of autumnal whether begin to show across the landscape. Friday will peak at 34C, a consistent forecast throughout the later weeks of summer but maybe the last of the heat before we kick into a drizzly week from Tuesday. The Bureau of Meteorology predicted a chance of a thunderstorm in the late afternoon and evening on Friday for Bunbury, Busselton and Collie, breaking the swing of sunshine the region has been blessed with. A comfortable 27C is tipped for Saturday in the Bunbury region and rising slightly at 29C on Sunday, however remaining partly cloudy before a wet week. Up the hill in Collie, the hot temperatures are still kicking at 37C while holding 50 per cent chance of thunderstorms in the late afternoon. However, By Saturday morning, the sun will return for a comfortable partly cloudy weekend sitting at the 29C mark. Bridgetown is staying hot throughout the weekend, with 38C on Friday into a sunny but humid 31C on Saturday. Residents can expect some rain easing into the weekend, as cloud cover moves into the region on Sunday for a drizzly week ahead. Further south, Margaret River will sit at 27C across the weekend with a small chance of rainfall expected into early next week, and Augusta will be tipped as the coolest South West area this weekend with 25C on Sunday. Fire danger across the Geographe to Leeuwin Coast remains very high, with total fire ban restrictions remaining in place until the end of the month.
