Sickening footage has emerged of the Bondi terrorist pausing his deadly attack to put his glasses on after being tackled and disarmed by a heroic father, before continuing to shoot dead innocent civilians.

In the footage, 50-year-old Sajid Akram is seen rustling around in a backpack after retreating to the pedestrian bridge where his son stood firing a rifle at people enjoying a Jewish festival.

Akram then pulls out a pair of glasses and puts them on his face as his 24-year-old son Naveed Akram patrols the bridge with a gun.

The older gunman is then pictured picking up the backpack and crouching behind the bridge wall with his son, who is seen looking around towards the person filming, wielding his weapon.

The father and son duo carried out the attack on a festival celebrating the first day of Hannukah on Sunday evening.

The attack resulted in the death of 15 people, including 10-year-old girl Matilda Poltavchenko, Rabbi Eli Schlanger, and French national Dan Elkayam.

The victims were aged between 10 and 87, according to NSW premier Chris Minns, who says 38 people are being treated in hospital for injuries.

Sajid Akram was later shot and killed by police, while his son is in a critical but stable condition under police guard in hospital and is expected to face charges.

“Very little” is known about the two gunmen, according to NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon, but it has been confirmed that Sajid Akram held a category AB gun licence and was a member of a gun club.

Sajid Akram was therefore “entitled by nature” to legally possess the weapons under the state’s Firearms Act, according to Mr Minns, who has indicated that gun reform will be on the table for NSW in the near future.
