WA Day 2025: Hardwired Entertainment bracing for extreme sports, BMX trick spectacle in front of crowds
Backflips, 360s and completely disconnecting from bikes metres above the ground.
The Hardwired Entertainment crew are bracing to put years of hard work on display when they take the stage, scaling ramps to soar into the sky in front of crowds at the WA Day Festival at Burswood Park.
Providing a small glimpse into their arsenal of tricks at a southern suburbs skate park, co-founder Brayden Davies said professional riders would be jumping from a BMX ramp onto an inflatable airbag lander.
“They’ll roll in with some speed and be doing backflips, 360s and letting go of the bike — it’s pretty cool to watch,” Mr Davies said.
“It’s tonnes of talent, but it’s a lot of hard work as well.
“These guys are out practising week after week, day after day, so it’s one of those things where, just like anything, if you’re travelling around and putting a lot of time and effort into something that you love then you’ll become good at anything.”
Hardwired riders Todd Meyn, Shane Ellis and Jake Greaves all flipped their way in front of cameras this month, eager to showcase their skills to new audiences after years of hard work across November 22 and 23 at Burswood park.
Mr Davies said while the crews’ airbag lander was inflatable, there was still a risk riders could be hurt if their extreme tricks went awry.
“It’s not really crashable — it definitely hurts — but it’s more so just makes it easy to be portable and move around,” he said.
“We actually rode freestyle motocross at Burswood last year for a different event — the atmosphere there with Optus Stadium and Burswood Crown Towers is absolutely amazing.
“Definitely come on down, check out what the boys can do, cheer them on.”
Hardwired Entertainment evolved into a leading extreme sports company after Mr Davies and co-founder Matt Curtis revamped a business they had purchased in 2018.
Now the company showcase stunts on BMX bikes, Harley Davidson bikes and freestyle motocross displays around the State.
The WA Day Festival is made possible thanks to support from the BHP, WA Government, Lotterywest. Patrons are encouraged to take advantage of the public transport available to Burswood Park.
