VideoTeenage boys have climbed onto the roof of Banksia Hill juvenile detention centre in Canning Vale, Perth.

Department of Justice staff were trying to coax three teenagers down from the roof of Banksia Hill Juvenile Detention Centre on Friday night.

Vision captured by the 7NEWS helicopter showed teens armed with bricks as they jumped across the roof of the facility.

It is unclear what time they scaled the facility, which is understood to have been damaged during the ordeal.

A spokesperson for the department said staff were “monitoring the situation”.

“There is no risk to the wider public,” they said.
