Trains were cancelled across Perth this morning causing peak hour havoc for commuters.

The Public Transport Authority said lightning strikes, caused by this morning’s thunderstorms, affected the train network’s signalling.

The result caused trains to be cancelled on the Mandurah Line, between Elizabeth Quay in the Perth CBD and Aubin Grove, as well as the Yanchep and Thornlie Cockburn lines.

By 9.35am, the PTA said the issue had been fixed and trains would “resume shortly”.

But delays are continuing on the Thornlie-Cockburn line.

Commuters have been told to allow for extra travelling time.
