The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has responded to nearly 60 calls for help less than 24 hours after wet weather hit the State’s south.

DFES on Thursday confirmed it had responded to 58 weather-related incidents since 11am on Wednesday.

Of the 58 incidents, 45 were related to water ingress near Busselton, with the State Emergency Service providing assistance with sandbagging and temporary repairs.

DFES also responded to at least nine incidents in the Perth metropolitan region in suburbs including Port Kennedy, Hilton, Tuart Hill and Forrestfield.

“Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris,” a spokesperson said.

“Stay away from fallen powerlines, they are dangerous and should always be treated as live.

“Look around your home, car and property for damage.”

No one has been injured, with St John WA confirming it had not been called to any storm-related incidents.

The Bureau of Meteorology cancelled a severe thunderstorm warning on Thursday morning.

“Thunderstorms have eased over the South West and Lower West,” a spokesperson said.

“An upper level trough moved inland overnight, bringing periods of heavy rainfall.

“Isolated thunderstorms with moderate rainfall are still ongoing near the coast but are no longer expected to be severe.”

The Bureau recorded 70mm of rain near Ludlow in the three hours up to 7.30pm on Wednesday.

Up to 69mm of rain was recorded near Busselton, with a further 52mm logged in Ravenscliffe.

And closer to Perth, 25mm of rain was recorded in the 30 minutes to 12.45am in Jarrahdale on Thursday.
