AFL Watch: Forgotten Docker James Aish continues solid run of form in Peel Thunder’s big loss to Perth

A forgotten Fremantle Docker stood out as Peel Thunder fielded their maximum allotment of 12 AFL-listed players in their 40-point loss to Perth at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday. Here’s how they fared. James Aish: Peel’s best performer on the day, leading his side in both disposals (28) and marks (eight). Stood tall in defence while dealing with an avalanche of inside-50 supply in the second half. Will Brodie: Not quite at his best in a 20-disposal effort as the Thunder were well beaten in the midfield. Finished as his side’s only multiple goal-kicker with two, the second of which came after a brave one-on-one mark. Nathan O’Driscoll: Looked to be on managed minutes as works to overcome a persistent ankle issue. Laid a team-high seven tackles and gathered 13 disposals playing mostly as an inside midfielder. Josh Draper: Did some nice things with ball in hand and was solid enough when called upon defensively. Liam Reidy: Another standout display in the ruck, winning 48 hit-outs, but his midfielders struggled to capitalise on his dominance. Oscar McDonald: Was the most likely forward target in the first half but was hardly sighted in the second as Peel struggled to advance the ball past halfway. Kicked 1.2 from his three set shots. Hugh Davies: Managed to hold Perth’s Aaron Clarke without a goal, though he was helped by some dodgy delivery from the Demons to their spearhead. Jack Delean: Continued a solid run of form on the wing in a 15-disposal, one-goal effort. Ollie Murphy: Was not helped by a lack of pressure from further afield on a few occasions. Charlie Nicholls: Struggled to get into the game in difficult conditions for a key forward. Aiden Riddle: Forward craft continues to be a work in progress but does some nice things when given the chance to spell Reidy in the ruck. Jaren Carr: Put in an industrious effort on the wing.
