'Don't obsess': Daniels thriving as Hawks eye finals

Dyson Daniels has locked up Boston star Jalen Brown and found his range from beyond the arc as Atlanta won for the 16th time in 18 NBA games to continue their magnificent March.
The Hawks, beaten by the Eastern Conference No.2 Celtics on Friday, turned the tables in a 112-102 home win on Monday (Tuesday AEDT).
Atlanta moved to 43-33 and importantly another win clear of seventh-placed East rivals Philadelphia (41-34), who lost to Miami, as they attempt to avoid a play-in finals scenario.
They're now 17-3 since the All-Star break, 13-0 in Atlanta and 13-2 in March, Australian guard Daniels again instrumental in restricting Brown while also powering the Hawks' offence after sitting out their Saturday defeat of Sacramento.
With their top-six finish clinched, Boston rested All-Star Jayson Tatum but welcomed back Brown, who missed their win over the Hawks three days earlier.
Daniels didn't give him an inch, Brown (29 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists) making just nine-of-29 field goals and inflating his stat-line with a late flurry that briefly gave the Celtics hope.
The Boomers guard hit two-of-three three-point attempts and was 70 per cent from the field for his 18 points, while adding five rebounds, five assists and two steals.
His triple on the final play of the third quarter capped a decisive 36-22 term to give the hosts a 14-point buffer.
It continued Daniels' fine run of form and comes after offensive woes earlier in the season.
"He's just shooting,' coach Quin Snyder said of Daniels, who has shot at 15 per cent from long range this season, half his career average.
"You can't make them if you don't take them … and everyone's got confidence in him ... and if he doesn't feel comfortable on any given possession that's OK too, he can make other plays.
"I don't want Dyson to overthink it. That's the biggest issue for any player, to kind of obsess about something, and he (often) leads our team in plus-minus, whether he's shooting it or not."
Onyeka Okongwu (20 points, 10 rebounds) and Jalen Johnson (20 points, 12 rebounds) each had double-doubles while Daniels' Boomers teammate Jock Landale sat out as he manages a shoulder injury.
"It's gonna be something that's there for a little while," Landale said when asked about playing with shoulder pain.
"It's something I've just had to come to terms with. The consensus is in the off-season, when I've got some time to rest, it'll go away."
Fighting for direct finals entry, the Hawks gained some breathing room on the 76ers thanks to Miami's late 14-0 run that shot them past Philadelphia 119-109.
Tyler Herro scored 30 points, while Bam Adebayo finished with 23 points and 16 rebounds.
In San Antonio, Josh Giddey finished with nine points, nine assists, six rebounds and a steal as the battling Chicago fell 129-114 to the Spurs, who sit second in the Western Conference.
