Rockingham Flame Isaac White wins NBL1 West MVP as he prepares to join Bryce Cotton at Adelaide 36ers

NBL1 West men’s MVP Isaac White has declared he can’t wait to join forces with former Perth Wildcats star Bryce Cotton in Adelaide. White’s stellar season for Rockingham Flames was rewarded with the MVP award on Saturday night. He polled 170 votes and led the count all night to finish 22 votes clear of Warwick’s Elijah Pepper. The 36ers will be White’s fourth NBL club and he signed nearly two months before Cotton’s bombshell recruitment. He can’t wait to join forces with the five-time NBL MVP. “I just want to win, so when you’re playing with Bryce, history says you are a good chance,” White said. “Everything I’ve heard about him has been super positive around him as a guy and his play speaks for itself. I’ll get to learn from him while playing alongside him. I just have to figure out my role around him so I can get on the floor and help the 36ers.” White had a superb season for Rockingham, averaging 30 points, six assists and six rebounds. He will be pivotal in Rockingham’s finals campaign after the Flames finished the season on top of the ladder. The 27-year-old has a proven ability to have an impact in multiple roles in the NBL. White credits his success to having the courage to change teams in a bid to gain different experiences. “It adds strings to your bow when you move around. It’s an experience and it goes back to me enjoying it,” he explained. “I’ve played in a lot of different parts of the world under a lot of different coaches and you figure out how big the basketball world is and how many players there are when you get out and see it. If you stay in one spot, you don’t get to see it. I get inspired by that. “I take my off-season really seriously because it’s fun and an opportunity to develop. So, if further down the line I am not a role guy and am one of those main guys, I will have had years of off-seasons under my belt of developing skills that I don’t get to show in the NBL. It’s fun.”
