Victor Wembanyama had 19 points and 15 rebounds and San Antonio handed Minnesota their worst post-season loss in franchise history, beating the Timberwolves 133-95 to even their Western Conference semi-final series at one game apiece.

Stephon Castle added 21 points and De'Aaron Fox 16 in the Spurs' highest-scoring playoff game since 1983.

Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle, Jaden McDaniels and Terrence Shannon Jr. each scored 12 points for Minnesota.

Games 3 and 4 are on Friday and Sunday in Minneapolis.

The Wolves' previous largest post-season defeat was by 30 points to the Los Angeles Lakers on April 29, 2003.

After combining to score 21 points on 10-for-31 shooting in Game 1, All-Star duo Wembanyama and Fox combined to go 12 of 25.

San Antonio have not lost consecutive games since falling at Minnesota and Oklahoma City in mid-January.

Earlier on Wednesday (Thursday AEST), Jalen Brunson scored 26 points and helped New York seize control of a close game after a run of blowouts, leading the Knicks to a 108-102 victory over Philadelphia for a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semis.

Playing without the injured Joel Embiid, the 76ers put up a far better fight than in the 137-98 romp in Game 1. The game featured 25 lead changes — the most in a playoff game in 11 years — and 14 ties. Neither team led by more than seven points.

OG Anunoby added 24 points for New York, while Karl-Anthony Towns had 20 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Knicks, whose Game 1 victory made them the first team to win three straight post-season games by at least 25 points.

The Sixers, who face another big climb after falling behind 3-1 against Boston in the first round, got 26 points out of Tyrese Maxey and 19 each from Paul George and Kelly Oubre Jr.

The series moves to Philadelphia for Game 3 on Friday and Game 4 on Sunday.

Embiid was ruled out with right hip and ankle injuries after waking up with soreness and being unable to go through the 76ers' morning shootaround.
