AFL trades 2022: Fremantle Dockers swingman Griffin Logue still wants to be traded to North Melbourne

Fremantle swingman Griffin Logue remains keen to be traded to North Melbourne, despite the likelihood he won’t know who will coach the Kangaroos next season by the time of next month’s trade period. The fate of incoming Roos coach Alastair Clarkson, who was unveiled to fanfare last month after signing a five-year deal, is unclear ahead of an investigation into racism allegations from his time as Hawthorn coach. Clarkson is keen to settle Logue in a key defensive post and views him as a key part of his rejuvenation plans. Logue’s manager Colin Young said the intention was to proceed with a trade to the Roos. “Knowing Clarko for a long time, I’ve never heard the allegations that popped up,” Young said. “There’s obviously a lot of media talk. But at this stage we’re still in communication with North Melbourne. I spoke to Griffin yesterday and it’s all good to go with North.” Fremantle midfielder Darcy Tucker has also requested a move to the Kangaroos, as the Dockers brace for an exodus that could include Logue, Tucker, Rory Lobb, Blake Acres, Lloyd Meek and Liam Henry. Speaking to 7NEWS in Melbourne, Young said he was confident Lobb would be traded to the Western Bulldogs despite Fremantle saying his trade request would “not be possible”. The 207cm forward-ruck has one-year remaining on his contract. Young expected the Dockers would show “good faith” to Lobb and believed letting him go could be the key to completing a deal to bring in Melbourne’s Luke Jackson. “I spoke to (list boss) David (Walls) last week and I know that Peter (Bell) and the club had a chat to Rory after last year’s trade period and there was a fair bit of good faith in having a chat about what it would look like this year,” he said. “And obviously Rory’s already bought a property in Melbourne. So hopefully that stays the same and we can get him a good deal and everyone wins from the outcome. “If Rory Lobb’s the key to helping Jackson get to Fremantle, and Rory can get to the club of his choice being the Bulldogs, then it’s a win for everyone.” Young was hopeful deals involving his clients Acres (Fremantle to Carlton), Bobby Hill (Greater Western Sydney to Collingwood) and Billy Frampton (Adelaide to Collingwood) would get done early in the trade period.
