Fremantle have confirmed Corey Wagner’s season is over after undergoing surgery for a torn pec suffered in their win over the Western Bulldogs.

Wagner was subbed out in the third quarter of the Dockers’ 16-point win, with scans confirming he will play no part in the Dockers’ finals series.

“It’s really, really disappointing for Wags,” high-performance manager Phil Merriman said.

“He’s ruptured his pec major muscle, so he’s gone into surgery today to repair that.

“He won’t be seen again for the rest of the year.”

It’s a big blow for the Dockers utility, who was having a career-best season and was Fremantle’s main tagging option, averaging a career-high for disposals, tackles and metres gained this year.

The Game AFLW 2025

It could open the door for Nathan O’Driscoll to return after he was dropped for their crucial Dogs clash.

Sam Switkowski is also no certainty after copping a knock to his knee despite Longmuir claiming he could’ve returned if required, but has the benefit of a pre-finals bye to recuperate.

“He copped a couple of knocks to his knee during the game, so he’s a bit sore at this stage,” Merriman said.

“We’ll work him through the gears, and it’s great to have the week off for him.

“We’ll hopefully get him up to be available next week.”

James Aish is the only other player who could return from the injury list before finals, as he recovers from a concussion.
