Fremantle spearhead Pat Voss says he hopes to see as many of The West Australian’s ‘Prancing Pony’ posters at the MCG on grand final day as possible.
The paper featured two unique posters in Thursday’s edition celebrating Fremantle captain Alex Pearce, affectionately nicknamed ‘Moose’, and Pat Voss, who has been dubbed the ‘Prancing Pony’ for his energetic goal celebrations.
The pair were both taken aback when they were shown the posters as they entered Perth airport for their flight to Melbourne, with Voss saying, “not bad”.
Pearce’s poster depicts the fearless Fremantle leader posed stoically as a centaur with the rugged body of a Moose over a horse.
Meanwhile, Voss features with the body of a pristine white thoroughbred charging around Optus Stadium.
Both said they might skip hanging them up on the wall alongside the premiership medallions they hope to win against the reigning premiers, Brisbane, on Saturday.
However, when Voss was asked if he wanted to see the posters around the ‘G on grand final day, he responded: “hopefully”.
The Dockers are fighting for their maiden flag this week in just the second grand final appearance in club history.
They had to do it the hard way after going down to Hawthorn in a shock qualifying final defeat at Optus Stadium, but have bounced back with two stirring victories to enter Saturday’s decider with a strong chance of finally claiming the cup.
