Freo fever in the US: Tame Impala leads ‘Freo!’ chant in Texas as Min Woo Lee, Pat Voss make waves

Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker has led a thousands-strong “Freo!” chant at the band’s final US show just days out from what could be a drought-breaking maiden premiership for the club.

Parker was appointed Fremantle’s number one ticket holder in 2021, releasing a Dockers hype track at the time to solidify his standing, and remains a devout fan of his side despite his world-conquering exploits.

Completing the US leg of his Deadbeat Tour — which followed his 2025 album of the same name — the two-time Grammy winner played his final show in Houston, Texas on Sunday night.

While the heaving Toyota Center crowd nudging 18,000 may have been largely oblivious to the chant’s meaning, Parker raised his arms and encouraged them to bellow “Freo! Freo! Freo!” in support of his beloved Dockers.

Fremantle ruckman Mason Cox famously hails from Texas in another connection to the southern State.

It comes after the Loser hitmaker was seen wearing a Dockers T-shirt a few days prior at his Denver show.

The Fremantle native had previously declared he would do whatever it takes to return to Australia in time to attend the Grand Final on Saturday should his team make it.

Tame Impala’s tour dates see the outfit beginning their Australian Deadbeat Tour on October 9 in Brisbane, wrapping up in Perth over two shows at RAC Arena across October 24-25.

Parker is not the only Aussie to spark Freo fever in the US, with WA golf star Min Woo Lee also representing the Dockers with pride in a different part of the country as he prepares for this week’s President’s Cup.

Lee posted an Instagram story of him donning Freo merch ahead of the tournament at Illinois’ Medinah Country Club.

The popular golfer is friends with several Dockers players and shared a round with Andrew Brayshaw during a pro-am tournament at Royal Fremantle Golf Club last summer, having attended Freo’s elimination final clash last September.

Earlier this week, Pat Voss was featured on SportsCenter – ESPN’s flagship highlights show beamed across the US – on its countdown of the day’s top plays for his fend-off and goal in the preliminary final.
