West Coast Fever star Alice Teague-Neeld set for Diamonds debut against South Africa

West Coast Fever star Alice Teague-Neeld is set to make her Australian debut after being named in the Diamonds team for the upcoming series against South Africa.
Teague-Neeld is one of four potential debutants alongside Ash Ervin, Hannah Mundy and Lucy Austin who have all been selected In the 15-player squad to take on South Africa in a three-match series starting on Saturday, October 4 in Bendigo.
West Australians Courtney Bruce and Sophie Garbin are also in the squad to take on South Africa, with Fever defender Sunday Aryang is rested before returning for the Constellation Cup Series against New Zealand which begins on October 17.
For Teague-Neeld it is culmination of an incredible Super Netball season as a midcourter for Fever where she led the league in goal assists (315) and centre pass receives (292) to help them to a grand final.
The 29-year-old began her career as a goal attack and was brought over to Fever in 2019 to fill that role before she transitioned into a wing attack under coach Dan Ryan.
“I am really excited about what this group can produce across the next seven test matches,” Diamonds coach Stacey Marinkovich said.
“Our athletes have come into this year’s Diamonds environment with conviction and purpose. There is a real spark about the way they’re approaching every session.
“Having our selections at the Australian Institute of Sport was invaluable, and gave us the high-performance environment that brings the very best out of this group.
“Whilst there are pivotal events on the horizon, right now it’s about seizing the moment to test ourselves, ignite our brand of netball, and drive each other to new levels on and off the court.
“New talent has shown they are ready to take the court and earn their Diamonds dress, however match line ups will always be decided by performance.
“There’s a real fire in this group, and the squad’s mentality to challenge and support each other is the strongest it’s ever been.”
