Hay Park’s losing streak continued at the weekend, with Dalyellup, Marist, Bunbury and Leschenault all having recorded wins over the South West club.

Marist first-grade have continued their dominant form in the competition, beating the struggling Eaton Bobtails by 134 runs.

Setting the tone was Marist opener Emily Allen, who showed her class with the bat, knocking an impressive 76 off 56.

A lofted drive over the bowler’s head was dropped, leaving Allen on 71. She looked all but certain to bring up the ton, but she was dismissed the next over with nearly the exact same shot.

As the wicket of the other opener, Matilda Thomas, fell, Hania Tahir stepped in and made some valuable quick runs, including five fours which put her side in a very comfortable position, finishing the innings 3-207.

Eaton’s chase was led by skipper Jenna Harrington, who couldn’t quite get in the groove, departing with a team-high 21 (63).

Opposing captain Ava Dodds (36* off 27) stood tall in Marist’s defence, taking wickets all through the inning, finishing with 4-6 in a standout performance, restricting Eaton to just 73 runs before being bowled out.

On the other side of Forrest Park, Bunbury Eagles vice-captain Meg Thompson stole the show, bagging two wickets in a vital bowling performance, and leading the run chase with an unbeaten 33 to seal an easy win against Harvey-Benger.

The game started in dramatic fashion, with opening batter Fleur Parker smashing a boundary off her first delivery, only to have her stumps fly with the very next ball from a peach of a delivery by Bunbury’s Hannah Bredenkamp.

Thompson dived across the pitch, almost taking a catch off her own bowling, but didn’t manage to stick it, with the ball only millimetres from her fingertips.

Brooke Vantwist was the pick of the Harvey batting order (22 off 49), but the Eagles were simply too good with bat and ball, rounding out the game by seven wickets (2-75 to 9-74)

At Leschenault Reserve, the home side managed to best the Burekup Queen Bees in a dominant display, only losing one wicket in the chase.

Bees opener Claire Gilotti started the game off well, hitting 35 off 54, but with Kate Baker, Abigail Keeler and Marlee Mosele all departing for doughnuts, the flow of runs was halted severely, with Bukerup finishing their innings 7-146.

Only one wicket fell in the run chase, with Leschenault’s Bec Campbell departing for 17. Shelly O’Byrne’s entry saw the foot hit the floor, as she and Janelle Wilson promptly chased down the total with 12.5 overs to spare.

In the final game of round six, Dalyellup’s 2-169 was far too large a target for Donnybrook, who only managed to put 91 runs on the board before running out of time.

Dalyellup won the toss and put themselves in to bat, with captain Tasmyn Verhaaf leading the way with a half-century, knocking 52 off 67. Opener Ruby Depiazzi was handy with 29 (82).

Marist now sit atop the ladder, with Bunbury a close second. Donnybrook, Leschenault, Harvey-Benger and Dalyellup sit in the middle of the pack, with Bukerup and Eaton sitting seventh and eighth respectively, with Hay Park yet to record a win.

Next week Marist will play Bunbury at Forrest Park at 1pm, and Dalyellup will host Bukerup at 9am.

Hay Park will look to get their season going against Leschenault at home at 11am, while Eaton will face Donnybrook at Hay Park.
