The story of Richmond premiership player Marlion Pickett will now be turned into a book.

Publishing house Simon and Schuster Australia have acquired the AFL star’s biography, titled Belief that is expected to hit stores in November this year.

Pickett— who was born and raised in Manjimup— will have his life story charted in the book, from his unexpected AFL debut in last years grand final to his chequered past and imprisonment.

“He had suffered injuries, a tragic death in the family and, before that, imprisonment,” the synopsis reads.

“This is a story about the courage and conviction of one man who dragged himself back form the brink to triumph on the biggest stage in Australian sport.”

The Game AFL 2024

Pickett made a name for himself across Australia last year when he unexpectedly took to the field of the biggest sporting event in the country, making his AFL debut at 27 for the Tigers in front of a 100,000 strong crowd.

The Tigers went on to take home the premiership, but Pickett was noticed as one to watch— even being recognised with third best on ground.

“I couldn’t change my past but I could change me. Family is the most important thing to me, and football gave me a second family,” Pickett said.

The book will be written with the assistance of author and screenwriter David Warner, and will be released in a hardback, e-book and audio version.

“Marlion’s truly is a story of redemption and I’m honoured and thrilled to have the chance to help him tell it,” Warner said.
