AFL Watch: Clay Hall, Tyrell Dewar star as West Coast breakthrough for upset win over South Fremantle

West Coast’s WAFL side broke through for their first win of the season, upsetting the previously unbeaten South Fremantle by 16 points. Here’s how the 17 AFL-listed Eagles who played fared. Harry Barnett: Has returned to the ruck in recent weeks where he looks more comfortable. Needs to get his hand on the footy more. Rhett Bazzo: Continues to build back from injury. Had a team-high nine marks and 17 disposals in another good display. Sandy Brock: Shut down star Bulldogs forward Trey Ruscoe who kicked two late goals when the game was over. Pushing for an AFL recall. Malakai Champion: The exciting goalsneak had one of the better games of his young career. Finished with two goals but his pressure was a highlight. Hamish Davis: The young wingman was excellent in the first half with his burst of pace and composure in traffic. Tyrell Dewar: Responded to his AFL axing in fine fashion. Gave plenty of drive around the ground with 26 disposals. Lucca Grego: Is tough as they come. Had 24 touches and five inside 50s to continue to push for an AFL debut. Tom Gross: Played a mix of midfield and up forward. Gross’ clearance work stands out among the rest. Clay Hall: The best player on the ground. Hall had 30 disposals and dominated at the clearances against a star Bulldogs midfield. Callum Jamieson: Had some moments down back in just his second game back from long-term injury. Harvey Johnston: The young wingman provides dash and power but needed to do it across four quarters. Coen Livingstone: Playing predominantly as a key forward, Livingstone kicked two goals and is strong on the lead. Noah Long: Moved up to a wing during the game, had 16 kicks and five inside 50s. Jack Petruccelle: The senior member of the team, Petruccelle was a good on-field leader but didn’t have a massive impact. Loch Rawlinson: One of several forwards who hit the scoreboard but didn’t take on the game. Jobe Shanahan: Continues to threaten to tear a game apart. Kicked two goals but loomed large all game. Bailey Williams: Pushing for an AFL recall. His forward craft was impressive with two goals and had some moments in the ruck.
