Brisbane Lions keen to show off their signing as former West Coast Eagles captain Oscar Allen tours new home
Former West Coast co-captain Oscar Allen has officially shed his Eagles wings as he toured his new Brisbane Lions home, expressing his excitement over a fresh start.
Allen joined the Lions last Wednesday as a restricted free agent with the Eagles receiving pick No.2 in the draft as compensation.
The 26-year-old was shown around Brisbane’s training base as he hoped to add to the success of the back-to-back premiers and bring over his leadership qualities to a young forward group.
“I think on the field to be part of that exciting forward line, when you look at the talent they have there and the calibre of the young players who are probably still growing into the game, and to see what they have achieved is outstanding,” Allen told club media.
“I’m hoping to add to that any way I can and a bit of leadership potentially in the front half as well.
“Off field, just to be part of the culture, there’s such a mature senior group here at Brissy who have had a lot of success so I just want to help in any way I can and really contribute to going forward with the football club.”

Allen posted an emotional frewell to the Eagles following his move last week saying it was not an easy decision to leave the club he has supported since he was a boy.
“I’m incredibly grateful to the players, staff and fans that have had my back. I wouldn’t be where I am without your love and support. The friendships and relationships that we’ve created will last a lot longer than footy will,” he posted on Instagram.
“It was an absolute honour to captain the team I grew up idolising alongside Duggo. It is something I will never forget.
“This year has been incredibly challenging and it’s put a lot of things into perspective for me. Through some tough times I had some special people there to support me and help me come to this incredibly hard decision to move on from the Eagles.”
