West Coast Eagles defender Harry Edwards in doubt for Adelaide Crows clash with foot injury

West Coast defender Harry Edwards is in doubt for Sunday’s clash with Adelaide and their stacked forward line with foot soreness, it can be revealed. Edwards missed Eagles training at Mineral Resources Park on Tuesday and The West Australian understands the back man is in doubt to play. Edwards’ absence would be telling as the Eagles prepare to face one of the toughest assignments in the game, the three-headed forward-line monster of Crows trio Riley Thilthorpe, Taylor Walker and Darcy Fogarty. But Adelaide might also opt to manage veteran Walker, 35, out ahead of the finals if they think they have enough firepower to counter the Eagles. Edwards has improved significantly in the back end of this season, drawing praise from coach Andrew McQualter. Although he was part of a back line that McQualter conceded was well beaten by Melbourne at the weekend. West Coast captain Liam Duggan, who will play his 200th game against the Crows, said Edwards was a “little sore”. “He’s prepping to play still, so just lighter duties early on in the week,” Duggan said. The captain conceded the big three Adelaide talls were a daunting prospect but the top-of-the-table Crows were laden with talent. “I think they’ve got them all over the ground, to be honest. They’re a potent team at the moment,” Duggan said. “We probably let our colours down a little bit as a defence on the weekend, so we’ll be looking to rectify that. And there’s no bigger challenge than the three-headed monster,” Duggan said. Eagles forward Liam Ryan also missed training as he nurses a black eye after a clash during the loss to the Demons. Ryan’s absence from the first session of the week is not unusual, given that they are coming off travel and he has been nursing an injury. Jack Hutchinson walked laps after playing in the club’s WAFL side on the weekend.
