WWE fans produce epic wrestling outfits to celebrate Rhea Ripley, Cody Rhodes, Jeff Hardy and Seth Rollins
WWE superfan Nicholas Latella will be out to produce a hat-trick of epic outfits on Monday night as he looks to top his extraordinary costumes for Smackdown and Crown Jewel.
The 27-year-old from St James grabbed everyone’s attention when standing in the front row of the Kick Off show at Forrest Place on Friday night dressed as Macho Man Randy Savage.
But then he appeared at Crown Jewel on Saturday adorned in paint, including on his eyelids, as a tribute to Jeff Hardy.
Now he’s tossing up what to wear for WWE Raw on Monday night.
“I’ve got a few options for Monday. There’s obviously John Cena then I could do Steve Austin, CM Punk of the Undertaker. I could do Mankind too. I haven’t decided yet.
“Cena would be pretty straight forward. Undertaker will be hard to get the right look because he’s about seven foot tall. I’m not close to that.
“Macho Man was pretty quick because I only needed my wig and cape. But becoming Jeff Hardy took me four hours because I had to do all of the face paint.
“I wasn’t certain about dressing up but Friday went really well so I decided to go again.”
Costumes were out in force throughout Perth. Hayley Stewart and Shanice Maiava dressed as Cody Rhodes and Stephanie Vaquer. Barry Dodd was Seth Rollins, and Danielle Curtis had an amazing Rhea Ripley outfit.
Fans shelled out thousands of dollars to buy tickets close to the action, many flew in from interstate, the queues for paid photos with WWE stars stretched down Murray Street and merchandise sales were through the roof.
Latella bought seats on the floor near the ring for all three nights and said he’d never forget the experience.
“It’s been excellent. I went to Elimination Chamber last year but this has been better. Being inside has trapped the sound in and we’ve got three shows so we’ve got all the different talent,” he said.
“I’ve been a fan since birth. I’ve got a photo of myself at two weeks old with a Stone Cold Steve Austin figure in my hand. It is all I’ve ever known.”
