And we are bringing the great white south and north to life in an evening of information and wild tales underneath the 22m skeleton of a blue whale at WA Museum Boola Bardip in Perth.

The extraordinary evening in an extraordinary venue is on Thursday September 10, 2026, with our presenting partner, Ponant Explorations.

Travel Editor Stephen Scourfield and North Pole traveller Annabelle Brown will focus on both Antarctica and the Arctic — how to choose a voyage, when to go, what to expect, and how to prepare.

And they will share stories from their adventures there.

Stephen has sailed to the Antarctic and Arctic many times. He will speak about Antarctica, and specifically about voyages to the Antarctic Peninsula, explaining options and tricks. He will offer ideas and options for voyages across the price range available, and also explain how to inexpensively prepare.

And he will introduce ideas for Arctic voyages, from Greenland to Iceland and Svarlbard.

Annabelle will speak specifically about icebreaker voyages to the North Pole. Ponant Explorations’ ship Le Commandant Charcot is the world’s only passenger vessel with a PC2-class icebreaking hull. Imagine sailing in luxury to the North Pole (and then taking a Polar Plunge).

Our evening is in the astonishing Hackett Hall in Perth museum, which was built more than 100 years. There will be sparkling wine on arrival, and wine, beer and soft drinks. And there will be a full hot canape service before and after the presentations.

As the evening is presented in partnership with Ponant Explorations, and with the support of Bicton Travel, there will be lots of exciting announcements and discounts on the evening.
