New Farm, New Country music festival to bring folk and country to WA’s Great Southern

A pristine pocket of bushland set between Denmark and Walpole will form a picturesque backdrop for a fresh folk music festival.

The inaugural edition of New Farm, New Country will arrive in the Great Southern from October 17-19 with a program of alt-country and folk acts from Australia and further afield.

Musos will descend on the 62-acre New Farm Campground for the three-day event, where punters will pitch tents and settle in for a soulful showcase of burgeoning talent.

Philadelphia-born, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Katie Schottland, aka Swimming Bell, will make their debut Down Under, setting the tone with dreamy, cinematic psych-folk vibes.

Also on the line-up is David M Western, Charlotte Le Lievre, Emily Barker, The Wilds, The Nomadics, Lemon Myrtle, Racoo, Tammy London, Stack Of Bibles, Anna Schneider and Polly Medlen, with more to be announced.

New Farm Campground is ideally placed for visitors to explore more treasures tucked away in the region, from the Valley of the Giants to Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks.

Organisers say they hope the festival will position WA on the broader country and folk music circuit while strengthening the local economy and providing a sense of community for all who attend the event this spring.
