Beyond the Saleyards: WA sheep and lamb values lift again

WA sheep and lamb prices continue to climb, with direct and saleyard values lifting again this week.
Strong demand has drawn more east coast buyers into WA saleyards, including Spence and Dix, ALC, JBS, and Platinum Livestock.
These buyers are mostly focused on lambs, while WA processors remain the primary buyers of mutton.
Despite rising prices, processing space remains available, keeping livestock moving efficiently.
On the east coast, lamb supply is extremely tight — some processors including Thomas Foods International are planning shutdowns while others are opting for shorter kill weeks to complete maintenance while waiting for supply to improve.
The shortage is pushing more demand west and supporting prices across the board.
Cattle live export markets remain steady, with bids mostly unchanged across northern Australia.
