Homicide squad to release major update regarding murder of Spencer Park woman on Friday morning

Homicide squad will release a major update into the suspicious death of a woman in Spencer Park last month, with a member of her family also to make a statement. The update comes almost a month after the 69-year-old woman was found dead in her Burville Street unit on February 8. Her 50-year-old son had also sustained critical injuries, and has remained in Royal Perth Hospital’s intensive care ward in an induced coma since the evening of February 8. Homicide squad lead Det-Sen. Sgt Steve Cleal will provide the update at 10.30am on Friday. Det-Sen Sgt. Cleal, late last month, told the Advertiser that the investigation was “well and truly” still underway, with officers awaiting the results of forensic and pathology tests. Police have not yet revealed the cause of the woman’s death or how her son sustained his life-threatening injuries, but they have confirmed he is a suspect in her death. More to come.
