$45,000 raised for local charities at Police Charity Ball

Three local charities received a welcome boost this week as the proceeds from the highly successful Police Charity Ball, held in September, were officially handed over.
A total of $45,000 was raised at the glamorous event, with local businesses and community members digging deep to support the local causes. The funds were divided equally between three deserving local organisations, with each receiving a cheque for $15,000.
The Kyle Andrews Foundation, represented by its treasurer Lee Anderson (Kyle’s mother) and chair Ann Adcock, was among the beneficiaries.
Lee Anderson said the donations would make a huge difference to many ill children in WA.
“The funds we will receive will go towards the costs of Kyle’s Camp 2026 bringing 18-20 kids from the Oncology Ward at Perth Children’s Hospital to Broome for the holiday of a lifetime, to get away from treatment and hospital life for just a little while to make them feel better, as Kyle wished,” she said.
“We are incredibly grateful for this generous contribution. This funding will go a long way in helping us continue Kyle’s legacy and support families going through the most challenging times.”
SAFE Broome, which rescues and rehomes animals across the Kimberley, also received $15,000. SAFE Broome representative Sonya Debenham was on hand to accept the donation.
“This funding makes a huge difference. It helps us provide long-term homes for our animals — amazing work for all the donors,” she said.
The third recipient, the Broome Youth and Families Hub, works to support at-risk youth and families in the Broome region. Operations manager Monty Mackenzie said the donation would help expand much-needed programs.
The Police Charity Ball brought together community members, law enforcement, and local businesses in support of charitable causes. The event’s organisers praised the generosity of the Broome community and the tireless efforts of sponsors and volunteers.
