Bunbury man Jerome Trent Stack to face trial over allegedly using prison phone to breach FVRO

A man serving time in Bunbury Regional Prison is set to face trial after he was accused of using the prison phones to breach a family violence restraining order. Jerome Trent Stack appeared in Bunbury Magistrate’s Court via videolink from the correctional facility on Thursday where he pleaded not guilty to seven counts of breaching a family violence restraining order. It is alleged Mr Stack, who is a sentenced prisoner, used the prison phones to contact the protected person throughout September and October last year. In the brief court appearance, the charges were adjourned for four weeks to a trial allocation date in March pending negotiations between defence and prosecution. The maximum penalty for breaching a family violence restraining order includes fines up to $6000 and/or imprisonment for up to two years. If a repeat offender is found guilty of a third breach, they will be subject to mandatory imprisonment with prosecutors able to apply to have the offender declared a serial family violence offender.
